Industry Kitchen
Industry Kitchen
Main Website: industry-kitchen.com
Location:
70 South Street, New York, NY 10005
Design:
Industry Kitchen’s design plays off of it’s dramatic and unusual setting just a few steps from the water’s edge and nestled under the elevated FDR drive. The restaurant occupies an angular, industrial structure designed by SHOP Architects.
The interior space will have angled soaring ceilings that open up towards the glass front to the water and view beyond. The plan is separated into two areas. One is anchored by the a large freestanding bar. The other contains large communal dining tables which flank an open kitchen where gourmet pizza’s are crafted. Patrons have the option of dining at stools overlooking the active kitchen.
Both the communal tables and the bar have a ceiling canopy of reclaimed plank wood above them. These two areas are unified by the long concrete feature wall that runs the full length of the restaurant. Set within the concrete wall are niches for wine display.
Food:
The menu for the restaurant is based on seasonal market ingredients, simply prepared in dishes that New Yorkers know and love. It is not exactly American, but the uniquely international menu that has become a staple of Gotham’s casual dinning. Favorites like Kale salad or Caesar salad and fresh pastas. The wood burning oven and grill will add a rustic quality to pizzas, grilled meats and vegetables. It will be a warm and comfortable menu, easily recognizable and expertly made with good ingredients.
